Hello all you amazing and keen runners
I have entered a 6k race on the 9th May. However, due to various things (inc. suspected hernia and trips, blah, blah), my training is not going swimmingly.
At my last training session, pushing really hard I did (on the treadmill with 1.0 incline):
2 mins walk
6 mins run (at around 7.6kph) three times.
Then I had a big rest of 20 mins (doing nothing) and did it all again, taking 25 mins for each segment, getting to 3k each time. So total running time was 50k that day and got to 6k.
My question is do you think I should still aim for the 6k or should I call the race organisers and ask to be put in the 3k category? I could only cover this distance with lots of walking and a 20 min break, so I don't want to have to have up halfway or get totally disheartened.
Or with the 22 days left can I up the ante enough to do it? I don't mind some walking? Also am hyper aware that treadmill running not similar to real life.
Any thoughts greatfully recieved
