Monday, 7/30: 6.3 miles. It was so oppressive, I could barely breathe. And that was at 7:30 AM !

Betty, I think you've let some of your weather escape Florida.
Went out to run my 9 miler here at 8pm here in mid-Michigan and it was 91 degrees!
      Crazy.

Ran much slower and took a bunch more water.

We runners are a dedicated bunch.

Rich, are we dedicated or just insane?

Wed: 6.3 mile run at 7AM this morning .. we've had relentless rains this week, but finally got a reprieve just long enough for my run!

I am entered for a 5 miler this evening, I am a little worried as my left knee is still not perfect, but I am going to attempt it whilst wearing my knee brace.

Take it easy, Rich! We don't want a permanent injury here!!!

Re: Cool Running for Week of July 29th

I was scared and took it very easy. My garmin's battery ran out so I was running without knowing my pace or time. Which was possibly a blessing in disguise. I just decided to run and listen to my body. I had my knee brace on and it worked. I finished the race quite strongly, about the same time as last year, so I am happy and my leg is feeling good. Just a little over 46 minutes.

I have an appointment with a physiotherapist next wednesday.

              Thanks for your concern Betty.

Betty: a little dedicated and a tad insane!

Rich: Great job on the race and "listening" to your body. That can be very hard to do in a race when your mind doesn't want to hear what your body is saying.

Another 8pm, 92 degree run. 4 miles in.

Well my morning run was RAINED OUT, and it rained pretty much all day ... grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Tonight, I found a window of dry weather and made the most of it: 6.3 miles in. Glad to get it done today so I can take Friday off! YAY!

YES, WE ARE ALL INSANE. Good job, Richt, on listening to your body. I find that is more challenging than running .... learning to LISTEN to the cues .. great job!!!

I am SO hoping that August goes by QUICK! Its such a long hot sweltering month in these parts!

Re: Cool Running for Week of July 29th

Hey Cool Runners, I have a favor: Could you please periodically check in with the folks in the BEGINNERS: Couch to 5k challenge? (http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...t=47130&page=1 in Exercise Challenges) They have a lot of questions, and I'm trying to answer them, but I'm still a relatively new runner (only about 9 months) myself, and I'd hate to steer them wrong. And even if my info isn't wrong, another perspective is always helpful. I'm sure they'd appreciate some advice from you "real" runners (I'm still a hack!). Thanks so much!
