  • Question for runners

This is my xth time around and I want to start doing cool running again (started it for 2 weeks back in April, then quit, slapping self now).

So my question is this: should I start cool running immediately, as in today (day 2 of induction) or walk 3 miles a day for a week and then start the running thing after 7 days of induction?

Advice is welcome - I will take it!
    Start date: 7/29/2007

    Scale: SW:235 CW:193
    GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

    Mini goals:
    215 - met 9/10/07
    205 - met 10/17/07
    195 - met 2/20/08
    180

    I survived a two-month stall!

Definitely the Couch to 5k program. It will get you started on a progressive plan that won't put you at risk for overdoing it.

    Welcome back !

Ditto to what Betty said. Definitely couch to 5k.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

          Re: Question for runners

          Just to clarify -

My question wasn't about WHETHER to do couch to 5 k.

It was about WHEN to start. Now, on day 2, or after a week of induction?

          I didn't start yesterday.

            Re: Question for runners

Sorry, I obviously didnt read your question properly.

I would say, get through 2 weeks of induction before starting the programme, just in case you get struck down with the dreaded "induction flu". Do some exercise during the first 2 weeks (its a must), but start your running programme with gusto, when the inevitable surge of extra energy kicks in.

              Re: Question for runners

              Ok, will do.

Lucky for me, I've never had induction flu. I am already in ketosis and have the burst of energy on day 3 (today).

But I think I will do some heavy walking for awhile.

Its not a bad idea to break yourself in gently.
