  • Unknown Sports Equipment (Vibration Machine).

    Hello All,

There is a new exercise machine that has arrived in my local Sports Club, and I would like to know some more about it.

Maybe I should take a photo, but it a machine that you stand on, and the metal plate that you're standing on, shakes.

It shakes up and down very fast. Like a see-saw for your feet.
So when your left foot is up, the right foot is down, and visa-versa. Your body is in the middle. The amount of distance that your body gets lifted is very small. Maybe a centimetre or half an inch only.

I have just found a picture on the Internet.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/SHAPER-POWER.../dp/B000PHH99I

I asked the guy at the sports club what the machine is called, and said it is called a"Vibration Machine".

He also said that 5 minutes standing on this thing is the same as a one whole hours walking exercise.

I did 10 minutes of standing on this thing, and my legs got every hot, and I was sweating profusely.

I don't think I could have done 15 minutes, as my legs were telling my brain, enough is enough.

My belly fat was also shaking a lot too, as well as the fat in my face near my neck and cheeks. I felt my face starting to heat up a little.

My question is, can anyone give me some more information about this device.
    Does it really work?
    How does it work?
Does it tone your body only? Or can it help with weight-loss?
Can it really be used as a replacement to an hours walking?

Or it is load of rubbish, just some fancy thing, that really doesn't actually do anything.

I asked these questions to guy at the sports club, but he said it only arrived yesterday, and he's not had chance to understand the machine fully himself.

The controls on the machine all in Japanese, and a small label says Made in Japan.

I would like to know more about this machine.
    How it benefits the body.

Can anyone give me some for info about this Exercise machine?
Or point me in the direction of some more reading that I can do.

    Many Thanks in advance,
    Hayden.

Hmmm, you got to use it. Let us know after you have tried it a few times. Sounds interesting. I have one of those things that you lay down and just put your feet into it and it shakes your body (Oxyciser I think it is called), don't think you can really lose weight in it but it gets your blood circulating and oxygen moving better through the body.

I will have to go dig that thing out, maybe it will help move some old fatpockets.

Let us know how it goes!

I saw newspaper ads for a machine similar to this that really had me curious. Here is the website that gives information about how this is supposed to work: http://www.soloflex.com/ad/vibration...m_campaign=WBV

I'd try it if I could afford it.

You've been single for a while now?

Well, you've got your own place now, with no house mate. So you can make as much noise as you want using your own Sports Equipment. Dumbbell weights, tread mill, etc.

Or maybe even some other low impact excercises.

Re: Unknown Sports Equipment (Vibration Machine).

Hello Laurie, on the website you posted, it kept re-using the expression WBV Whole Body Vibration.

So, I put "Whole Body Vibration" into wikipedia and got a whole wealth of information.

The new machine in my sports club, looks very study.
                Lots of metal on it.

It does say it can help weight loss, but when "can help weight loss" benefit is written in a list, along with 6 or more 'other' benefits I tend to look at the product skeptically.

Too much change of a cut-and-paste job.

Thank you for your post, it has got me started on my information search.

Re: Unknown Sports Equipment (Vibration Machine).

Maybe, that could happen. If I stand with my legs straight and "locked", then my head does shake. However I can't stand like that for more than a few seconds because it is very painful.

I have my legs bent, just a little. My hips, and my body above my hips doesn't move.

That way, my leg muscles are flexing about 1500 times a minute. This contracting and relaxing, uses energy. Produces heat. After 10 minutes, I am drenched in sweat.

Talking to the staff at the Sport Club, they have said, that 10 minutes on the machine is the same as walking a mile.

I accept your concern, and agree that is could be a problem, if you legs are not bent a little.

Re: Unknown Sports Equipment (Vibration Machine).

l find using the machine for more than 10 minutes without a rest very difficult. Your legs get so hot. You are sweating a lot.

I am fat. I became fat by eating the wrong food, and not exercising. I don't like treadmills, and I don't like running machines.
I don't like them for two reasons.
                            Number One, I am fat.
Number Two, The amount of time I spend on the running machine is vastly disproportionate to the amount of weight lost.

However, with this machine. Which by the way was invented by the Russians, as a way to supply exercise to their cosmonauts living extended time in the Space Station. I reversed bone marrow and muscle loss due to Zero Gravity exposure.

(I've been researching this machine, too)

Sorry, however, with this machine, I step off, after 10 minutes, and my body is screaming at me, that I've just done some exercise.

To me, a fat person. With very little impact to my knees and ankles, and other joints, I have just done some high impact exercise.

This machine, I think is an amazing idea.

I totally recommend that your husband gives it a try.

The machine that I am using, in my Sports Club cost $8000, and the motor that produces the vibration is very strong.

Maybe find a Sports Club with a good vibration machine too, and something bought for the home, might not be strong enough to do any good.
                            Hayden.
