  • Lateral Thigh Trainer

I purchased one of these just over a month ago, and I absolutely LOVE the workout I get on it. Picked it up used for $20. It really works the thighs, butt, and love handle area. Plus it's quiet and small, so fits nicely in a small place.

Problem is, last week the tension on it gave out, so now it's too easy to step and I can't get a workout on it really. DH is working on it may have it fixed, but we're not quite sure yet.

I've also got an exercise bike as backup, but I don't get nearly as good a workout on it. So I was wondering if anyone out there has found anything that's similar to the thigh trainer that they really love and can recommend? I don't mind buying another used piece of equipment, but my home is getting rather cluttered with exercise equipment that doesn't work like it should. (I actually have two bikes, but that's another story).

Hehe, well I'll answer my own question. I managed to find another used one for cheap, so we should have enough good parts to make one that works fine. In addition (and this is SOOOOO cool!) I had been advertising for this thing, and someone who lived right down the road emailed to say he had an eliptical machine that I could HAVE for free. The computer had some minor problem with it, so it was junk as far as he was concerned. But DH is good with those things, and fixed it in no time. So now I have an LTT AND fancy new eliptical trainer, which is one of the best types of equipment I've ever used. It's even got the calorie counter, heart rate monitor, etc. So not a piece of junk. Had my first workout on it today and it's fantastic!

When I lost a lot of weight on Atkins about seven years ago my main cardio workout was on an eliptical at the gym. So this is wonderful that I've got one for this time around too.

        Re: Lateral Thigh Trainer

What kind of lateral thigh trainer did you have?
That sounds like a piece of equipment I could use..

        Is there a brand name?
        How much are they new?

Is it like an elliptical machine?
Can you decribe it for me?

        Thanks!

          Re: Lateral Thigh Trainer

The one I have is just called the Lateral Thigh Trainer.
Here's an example of one: http://www.tv-network.ca/acatalog/La...h_Trainer.html

It is a wonderful little machine. Similar to a stepper, but better. Very compact and easy to move around. And it's better than a regular stepper because it moves outward as you step down, which gives the muscles in the upper thigh and sides of the thighs, as well as the lower back and "love handle" area. It's got tention adjustment, and step height adjustment too. The downside is that it's a fairly complicated construction, so parts can break, and are very hard to replace. However, there seems to be lots of used ones around for cheap. So if you can get one second hand it's worth a shot.
