  • Refueling During Long Runs

I'm just starting Atkins and have been training for a marathon. Usually we're given Cliff shots, Luna bars, etc. every hour for long runs. Does anyone know Atkins options for refueling for long runs (i.e. 2-6 hours)? Thanks!

    Re: Refueling During Long Runs

I am running a marathon in the near future as well. The beauty of Atkins is that you train in a glycogen depleted state and burn fat as you run. This eliminates the need to continually reload your muscles. I run my long runs without additional fuel. I do make sure I get my electrolytes (either in the form of tablets or low carb electrolyte mix) and water in. My fuel comes almost exclusively from the fat already on my body's fuel stores.
