  • just got back from IRAQ

    Ok so I am in the army 18 year vet. just got back from iraq where i didnt do much exercise and put on some weight. so I just started the atkins thing and i am running 4 miles a day 5 days a week. well today was my first run since i started and man was i tired.

    any advice?

    Kudos to you for starting up exercise again! I always imagined that in the army everyone did loads and loads of exercise, lol.

    Don't be surprised if you have a pause in weight loss. This happens when introducing more exercise... but it's a temporary thing... and you'll still be losing inches, which is the main thing!

    Advice? Keep at it! (but don't overdo it... go with what you're comfortable with, and then a tiny bit more. Increase gradually)

      You've come to the right place for support. Everyone here is great, when it comes giving you that extra push. I also think it's great that you are focusing on your exercise.

            Hi,

            Welcome to ADBB. 4 miles a day 5x a week is great - I wish I could run that far.

            As for advice, I'd say no. 1 read the book throughly if you haven't already and also check out these tips:

              Hi, we are so glad you are back home safe and sound from Iraq!

              No matter what exercise I do for the day, I make sure I eat a few hundred kcals of carbs, fat and protein before and after exercise. These mini meals keep my strength up during and after exercise.
