  • Weight Training Recovery Drink (Induction)

I'm starting Atkin's Induction next week. While I'm in a fat burning phase (I need to go from 20% body fat to 10%) I will be weight training only one day a week (cardio six days a week). Can anyone give advice about weight day nutrition? For example, can I use a recovery shake? I was thinking about drinking a Muscle Milk Low Carb Recovery Shake (23g protein, 10g carb low glycemic) after my weekly routine. That would be my entire 20g carb for the day. On the other six days, I'll get my < 20 g carb from salad. Is that allowed on Induction? When I get to 10% body fat, I'm going back on a balanced (high carb/creatine) weight lifter's diet, but anytime I hit 15% body fat I'll just Induction Diet back to 10%.

Also, what about carbs before weight training? I've never done Atkin's before, but i'm assuming I'll have no energy to lift weights. Is this true? Should I eat my daily salad before hitting gym? Thanks.

During Atkins Induction the majority of your daily carbs should be from vegetables. So if one drink will encompass all your carbs, it's not Atkins compatible.

Also the Atkins vegetables aren't just "salad" or lettuce. There are over 50 allowed vegetables to eat during Induction phase.

You really need to read the book in order to do Atkins properly.
