  • Cool Running for the Week of December 16th

    Where is everybody????

    It's Tuesday: 5 miles in.

49 miles this week with a 20 miler on Saturday. Then a 3 week taper leading up to the Goofy Challenge (Half marathon Saturday and Full marathon Sunday).

    It's coming quick.

Looking ahead some. Looking at doing the Mad City Marathon in May. (Madison, WI) and the Indianapolis Marathon in October....

What are your plans? Future races? Goals?

Re: Cool Running for the Week of December 16th

    Hi Rich and everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA .. work is INSANELY busy this time of year (I work at United Health Group as an Electronic Eligibility Analyst and this is our OPEN ENROLLMENT season), so running has had to take a backseat for awhile (BUMMER!) I did manage 6 miles today (Wed) .. first run since last Saturday (what's wrong with *that* picture?grrrrrrrrrr) Hopefully this is the end of my crazy work schedule and soon I'll be back in full swing with my usual running schedule!

Wow, Rich, I can't believe how fast the time has gone and you're right, it will soon be time to head south for your Goofy Challenge! Bet you can't wait for the warmer runner weather, huh? This week has been delightful weather-wise .. with overnight lows around 50 .. I hope you get that lucky for your race! You deserve great running weather after enduring that Chicago nightmare!

Happy running trails to all !

I am going to try to run today, I have not exercised in over a week, just 20 minute jog, please God, give me the motivation , the gumption, the power, the confidence to jog very slowly or walk for 20 minutes and not use the weather as an excuse.

Re: Cool Running for the Week of December 16th

I found out last night that I have been accepted to run in the Flora London Marathon in 2008. I got in via the ballot system being organised by my running club. I am currently feeling a mixture of excitement and scared!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Richt : With the countless Half marathons you've run and all the races at other distances, you'll have no problem running a full marathon. Congrats on getting in to the London Marthon. Very cool.

Betty: 50s sounds great. Actually anywhere from 30s to 60s sounds great. Not crazy about running in much hotter than that.

Jimmy: I'm passing the running baton to you. Get that 20 minutes in and pass it to Betty.

          For me, 10 miles in.

Thanks Rich, it is very cool. I am so excited, I always said that I wanted to run the London marathon by the time I was 40. Its now going to happen. I know deep down that I will be able to do it.

Silly thing really, because of the 13 halves that I have done this year I had decided to not run at all during December, I needed to rest the muscles. Because I havent been running I am feeling really sluggish, and as I type this I feel unable to run at all, however, I now need to get back to hitting the pavement (or treadmill at least). Once I get back out there I will be fine...... 3 miler planned for Sunday morning.

All of my friends on ADBB will be living my next 4 months with me

Re: Cool Running for the Week of December 16th

I would like , my goal is to run at least 20 minutes 3x a week, this week, so my goal is tonight run another 20 minutes.
Exercising during the holiday week is hard for me to be consistent, so I have easy goals right now.

20 miles in. 45 degrees here. Shorts and a short-sleeve shirt!

                    Let the taper begin.
