  • I lost 20 pounds so far WITHOUT exercise. I'm thinking about starting though...

    Honestly I'm just lazy / don't have the time for the exercise. But I live next door to the gym so I figure I can go for about 2 hours early in the morning.

    Questions.

    1. Is it safe to exercise while on the induction? I'm on the extended induction. I feel like my energy is low sometimes, I don't know if I should be exercising or not.

    2. What kind of exercising should I do? I was thinking about just walking for about an hour, then hitting the bikes. I'm planning on getting on the weights but I wanted to wait until the weight is lost.

    3. Is running safe? While on induction?

    4. How can I get my energy when I'm on the induction???

    I honestly don't see myself going back to eating the way I used to ever again...

    Can someone help me get some kind of routine going? I'm a fairly atheletic Man, but I'm starting out from not working out in YEARS so I need to take small steps.

    everything exercise-like, is safe while on induction. in fact, everything, period - is safe on induction.

    Your chice in exercise is up to you, cardio is fine, some people stick with that all the time, some people add weight training into it, to tone up more and target specific areas.

    How do you get your energy during induction? well why dont you have energy? I have more than ever! are you eating ENOUGH?

      That's probly what it is. I'm not eating enough. But honestly I don't feel too hungry most of the time. I usually get 2 meals per day. Ever since I started this diet I'm rarely hungry like I used to be.

      I guess I should step it up and try to eat more.

        yes you should, you'll find when you exercise you'll be hungrier the next day anyway!

        remember you should be eating around every 6 hours that you are awake, at least!

          I run, walk, lift weights, do yoga and anything else that interests me. I've done some cardio classes, spin classes etc.

          Do NOT wait to start lifting weights until AFTER you've lost weight. Lifting weights will help you lose FAT FASTER! Think of it this way, the more muscle you build, the more fat that muscle will burn. Muscle is a metabolically active tissue, meaning it burns fat/fuel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.             Oh, and two hours a day to start is FAR too excessive.

            30 minutes a day to start and do a variety of exercise.

              If you live next door to a gym, maybe you can get them to put you on a program. A bit of cardio, whether it is an aerobics class, the threadmill, bicycle, cross/trainer, walking, running,...and a bit of weights, whether it is doing the weight circuit, or free weights. I definately agree, that weights should be used while you are losing the weight, so the skin will tighten up instead of sagging. Start now in induction, and start slow, baby steps, not 2 hours to start. Excercising has given me more energy than before, and I'm also sleeping much better too. Before too long, excercising will become a habit, rather than a chore!Enjoy!

                  Hey there,

                  I wanted to say that these guys have given you great advice and good luck with the exercising. I, and lots of us here, quickly grew to love it and have tried lots more things than we ever dreamed of!

                  Also, to see if you are eating enough you could work out your basic metabolic rate and check how many calories you need just to live. I check all this kind of stuff at fitday.com
