  • Cool Running for the Week of January 27th

12 miles in today. 32 miles for the week. Kinda scary since this is the first week of the 18 week program. Lots and lots of miles between now and Memorial Day weekend.

2.25 miles run today, non stop, without stopping to cough up much! (sorry tmi), first time I have managed to run since Chrismtas, and the first time I have ran since the end of November, so relatively happy with my fitness level.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

RichF, great job! What's the peak for that training plan you're following?

RichT, glad you're back to running again! Take it slow!!

WTG, Joy .. how'd you finish?? Oh, and I went to that new running store at International Plaza yesterday .. great place! I bought some orthotics for my shoes .. will see if they work well tomorrow.

No run for me today .. still resting from yesterday's 14.5 miles.

        Great job everyone!

Betty, I don't know my exact time, but it was around 3 hours. I just wanted to finish, and I did. Strong. Uninjured. Feeling good and darned proud of myself today.

I'm proud of you too Joy. Did it make you cry? I remember finishing my second ever half and being so happy that I had knocked such a massive amount of time off of my first that I blubbed like a big girl!

No crying Richt, but I was elated. I'm going to wear my medal today to work. Showing it off! LOL

Adena did her first FULL marathon yesterday. I'm not sure if she'll come in this thread or not. Maybe stop by her journal (oh, and there are pics of us there too). Another friend of Adena's who ran with us was crying when she came across the finish for the full.

It was a great course, and the half and full ran together for the entire half race, and then the half broke away to the finish and the full runners kept going. So, it was really great to run with them. They helped keep me going, and pacing myself so that I could have a strong finish.

Congratulations Joy!!! That is an AMAZING feat

Glad that you're able to get back out there Richt!

Betty--be careful where you're running off, someone may think that they could just put you over their shoulder and make off with you hehe.

1/27--1mi (2.5min running, 1min walking) Just did a mile, running while I was still sick made me feel like I had never run before in my life!

Re: Cool Running for the Week of January 27th

Congrats on the Half Marathon Joy!!

Betty - my schedule peaks out at 55 miles again this time. It's a schedule from the same person, but just stretched out longer, 18 weeks instead of 12.

8 mile run in. An unseasonably warm 46 degrees tonight. All the snow is melted. Good footing for a change.

Although, it's supposed to be a high of 18 tomorrow. Oh well.

Rich, I would like the 18 week training alot better !! Goodluck with the 55 miles, WOW!! Makes my current 34 mile weeks look pretty wimpy! I think before I tackle another marathon, I will follow a training plan .. I've never done one before, so I guess I'm overdue!

I think I'm going to sign up for the 15k Gasparilla on 2/9. So far, I have all the other Gasparilla medals except that one .. so some new hardware will be nice!
