It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

2/3--3mi run/walk around the Rose Bowl with a friend of mine. I'm not sure about the times, but it was 44min including our warm-up walk. We're supposed to meet up to run again tomorrow so I'll try to time the sets then

I ran a full mile today for the first time!! A few months ago I never would have thought I could do it, but now I'm just planning how much further I can go next time cause it made me feel so good to finish that mile. Ya'll are a huge inspiration to me, how can I not try my hardest when I know that each of you has gone through the same struggle starting and succeeded so well?

Thank you for being here and letting a little newbie runner join the big kids' thread.

Another full mile to start, then walking break, then about .75 of a mile running.

4 mile session last night (as I had a date to fit in also) I know, if I am training for my marathon I should get my priorities straight.

Wednesday: 4 miles on the treadmill @ work.
Friday: 14 miles on the treadmill @ work.
Saturday: 14 miles outside on the snow covered roads.

Normally I rarely run on the dreadmill, but the foot of snow this week has caused me to alter my run schedule. Not getting them in is not an option.

                      great job, Betty!

I did the Gasparilla 15K, just under 1:50. I'm THRILLED with that time.

I went to the expo on Friday. I only bought a pair of socks.

I was fitted for a pair of orthotics. I didn't buy them though...they were $60! That's a little high for me, if they don't actually do me any good....
Do any of you use orthotics?

                          I have flat feet.

Girl, I so agree with you on the cost of orthotics .. BUT...

Back in 2006, I blew out my sesamoids (ball of the foot, specifically under the big toe) by "toeing off" too much with my left foot. I have a weird left foot anyhow .. long story short .. it rolls waaaaaaaaaaay too much inward with each step .. during races, its TORTUOUS .. to the point that I always lose my big toe nail on that foot anytime I run over 20 miles .... both marathons I have finished have KILLED that foot ...

So, when I went to FIT2RUN a few weeks ago, I invested in orthotics with a metatarsal cushion (yep, $60...OUCH) I sorta bought them with fingers crossed thinking well maybe it *might* be worth it if I could get rid of this horrendous pain ...

TWO WEEKS LATER ... the pain is DRASTICALLY reduced and I ran last Saturday a distance of 15.5 miles PAIN-FREE .. first time in several years ...

So yes, I AM A BELIEVER IN ORTHOTICS!

Those look like the ones I tried on. And, it was at the Fit2Run booth, so I bet they're the same....maybe I should give them a try. Thanks!

I was just telling Adena in my journal, that depending on what time my group gets done with our homework (I started my Masters degree this semester), I may go over to the marathon and do some cheering along bayshore tomorrow. Pay it forward a little bit.
