  • Where to start??

Okay, so I'm ready to start adding some exercise into my life With that said, I'm on day 4 of induction and I'm not the strongest I've been, by far. I don't want to over exert myself and pass out, but I do want to start working out to get me out of a lazy day routine. I really want to start joining some of the challenges...but I need to get my feet wet (so to speak) before I jump in the pool Any suggestions?

    Hi Vanessa!

I would suggest you start with walking .. say a mile or so a day to begin with, and build from there. You can also invest in a stability ball and some inexpensive dumbbells from Walmart and do some upper body training that way.

    Great decision to get moving!

Thanks so much Betty I'm going to start walking tomorrow with my kids. Pushing a stroller up a hill ought to get me moving! Thank you again for the suggestion!

Yes, walking is good. I also started new to exercising. I have gone through a lot of exercise videos (from the library) to find out what I like. I discovered I like yoga stretches - I do those almost every day. And I like the Walk Away the Pound videos. Really enthusiastic and actually fun. I bought dumbells - 3 pounds. Found a nice arm sculpting exercize on YouTube that I started with. Still one of my favourites.

Edited to say: I had a quick look at you fitday - don't know if you added all you eat - I know some days I end up not doing that - but just want to remind you not to starve yourself. You need a lot more calories than you are eating now.

          Hey Vanney!

Whatever you choose, make sure it's something you actually enjoy, not something you feel like you're "supposed" to enjoy. Anything that gets you moving and gets your heart pumping is exercise!

My advice would be to do a little bit each day with one rest day. Don't overdo it, just start with a nice walk in the neighborhood or some crunches/lunges/squats/pushups at home.

As you get into the groove, you should look into strength training. Lifting weights is what will burn fat and tone your body! Check out www.shapefit.com for sample exercises.
