Re: Cool Running for the week of February 24, 2008
17 miles in.
Been AWOL as of late. Had a "mid-winter crisis".
Problems:
Too cold (wind chill below zero)
Hate the dreadmill.
Too much snow on the ground (roads not safe - cars hitting me or falling)
Training plan has too many miles.
Never fully recovered from Disney.
Solution:
Took a week off.
Cut schedule back (after this weekend's long run). Highest weeks will go from mid 50s to low 40s. That was tough. Runner's always want to do more, more, more. Stepping back was a had decision, but I think it was necessary to do in order to keep running.
Nice to see everyone coming back to this thread after Betty questioned whether the weekly thread was still viable. Whether you walk to the mail box and back or run ultra marathons, this is the place to be.
Welcome everyone. Post your trials and tribulations, successes, setbacks and triumphs. You'd be surprised at how much your posts help other people.

Richt,
Have you tried wearing a surgical mask when you are running, it may cut down on the cold air getting in your lungs and help with the coughing. Get the disposable kind so you can throw it away after every run.
I am not a runner but i use to live with pneumonia and bronchitis every year and a doctor gave me this suggestion when i use to cough up a storm to the point of not being able to breathe after coming in from outdoors.
Just a thought, i am sure runners may have other ideas.
