      Hey Betty!

Goal time is sub 4:30. I've run 2 marathons around 4:35 (Flying Pig and Disney). Think it's time to shave 5 more minutes off.

5 miles in today. 35 mph winds and 35 degrees. Yuck. It's spring, right?

Julie, there is absolutely NO SHAME in "just finishing" a marathon. In so doing, you're well ahead of millions of people who haven't the courage to start let alone finish. Rich is, in a word, PHENOMENAL ... he never ceases to amaze and inspire me! Maybe one day I can give him a "run" for his money (pardon the pun), but until then, I'll just sit back and swoon.

Rich... you are my running hero.

Re: Cool Running for the Week of March 30th

Julie - I was AMAZED and thrilled just to finish my first. That's how it starts. Then you start thinking of all the ways you could train better and get a little "faster".

Betty. You are my hero. Running marathons and being a long time maintainer. I'm good with the running, but just haven't been able to make this a WOL. I'm probably 80% there. I think I'm slowly getting there in that regard. You are an inspiration.

10 miles today. Not a big fan of the "mid-week long run", but every plan I've followed has one. Most intermediate level plans are around 10 miles at the peak of traiing.

Re: Cool Running for the Week of March 30th

I have a question for all of you...

When you're training for a marathon, does your weight stay put, do you gain, or do you lose? I've been RAVENOUS, and eating a bit more, and I've put on weight. I feel like a real porker. And it's not that the scale says I'm heavier--I haven't dared to weigh myself (knowing my weight will be all over the place anyway)--I know I've gotten bigger, my clothes are tighter and I feel huge. I was just curious as to what your experiences have been. Do you have to keep an eagle eye on what you're eating, or do you just eat to feed your hunger?

I've been eating to feed my hunger and apparently that's not the best plan. I've got to start using fitday religiously again...

Re: Cool Running for the Week of March 30th

If I don't watch what I eat, I put weight on even when running 55 miles per week.

After a 20 mile long run, I feel ravenous. It's easy to over eat for the entire day and actually end up gaining. That's been my experience anyway. I try to eat more veggies with fat on those days to try to squash the hunger.

                    Thursday: 5 miles in.
