  • Help with sit-ups!

Okay, I'm in t he April Ab challenge, but by golly, I CANNOT do a freakin' sit up! its SOOOOOOO hard, I can't even get half way!! Is there a way I can do them without being on the floor, or would that be cheating?? I have a stability ball and I have a mini trampoline - Rebounder. Could either of those help??

    hi Lucy,

I'm not sure about any way of doing them not on the floor - but I was wondering if you are doing crunches or full situps. Crunches tend to be recommended now instead of full situps and they may be easier.

Here is a crunch: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=g2dhgvPjvaQ make sure you lift your nose to the ceiling, not towards your knees and breath in as you go up and down as you go down.

If that is still hard, just take your time, practice and build up to it - it will come.

Pilates and hula-hoop are other ways to develop your abs and core muscles. There is a hulahoop challenge on this board too if you are interested

As part of my yoga/pilates/crunch I do a halfway roll back. You sit with your knees bent, hold on lightly to your hamstring (back of your tigh) and slowly curve/lean back ward. But you do not go all the way down just about halfway. The key is to do it slowly and engage the abs.

Crunches are really good but I like to mix it up some sometimes.
