I did Atkins years ago when I had full use of my legs. I was wildly successful, but I attribute a lot of that to the fact that I did 40-60 minutes on a Nordic Track every morning.
Well...I don't have that option anymore. I have an incomplete spinal cord injury that makes my legs really not work right. I do own an eliptical, but because of the ways my muscles work, I can only crank out 4 minutes before my legs are completely fatigued to a dangerous point.
My plan this time around will be to do my 4 minutes on the elyptical, and then do a Billy Blanks dvd while seated...mostly focussing on punches and lifting my legs during kicks as much as I'm physically able to (which isn't much). I know this will get me into a good target heart rate.
But...I'm a little weary of getting bored with this. Anyone have other suggestions for DVD's where I could easily focus the workout on the upper body and still raise my heart rate? I'd really prefer to NOT swim (can't afford it, and wet locker room floors scare the poopy out of me...I fall very easily even though I walk with crutches)...so suggestions besides that would be great.
Thanks!

...but it's great that you're still going to keep up with the exercise!
