yesterday i ran a mile untimed and today i ran another mile in 10:21 i need to be able to run 2 miles in 16:30 the last time i ran 2 miles was about 2 months ago and it took me 24 mi so i assum its gunna take the same time today for me to run it. my question is what things should i do to increase my distance and to increase my spead. i need to get my 1 mile time under 8 min. if im gunna be successfull i have until july

I'm in the same boat, trying to get in the National Guard. Am able to do two miles in 23 minutes, but I have to get down to 18:00 or so.
It took me a while to get up to two miles and when I did it took 32:00 minutes. I've shaved that time down some, but am stuck at 23:00. So I've started running 3.5 miles and will work on shaving that time down, hopefully so that I can run the two miles faster.
