  • What is good weight losing excercise?

    I've been working out on my elliptical and yoga ball as well as doing some pilates and it seems I'm building more muscle than losing.
    Sure, I want muscle, but I would rather lose weight quicker then tone up later.
    Any ideas? My calves feel huger than they were before I started!

    sounds like you need more cardio (for fat burning). How long are you on the elliptical? And how long compared to time spent on other forms of exercise?

      Usually I'm on average 30 minutes - some days 20 minutes, and some days 45. I don't know how far I'm going - I don't have a counter. Did buy a pedometer though, just haven't programmed it yet.
      After that, I usually spend around 30 minutes on the ball doing every excercise on the poster that came with it (situps, obliques, bouncing, other various stretches w/legs and hips and arms) - 20-40 reps each.

      I don't know if any of it is effective other than my legs on the elliptical - they're firmer (calves) and stronger... but... I don't want them to look big and athletic, I want nice happy femininie legs like I used to! lol

      What do you suggest for cardio?

        Try HITT( high intensity interval training) 2 big and loonitika are great for advice on this one- or try walking/jogging

          It is fine to want to 'tone' later , but you MUST do some sort of weight training 3x a week at the minimum. If you dont, then you will lose muscle and GAIN WEIGHT after you lose your weight. 95% of dieters who lose the weight gain it back because they didnt weight train (ACTUAL FACT: 'Burn the fat, feed the muscle' written by Tom Venuto)
