  • need your opinion

I am induction, and I am working out basically walking the track or working on the stationary bicycle. I am working to loose about 45 pounds. My stomach is not small and I wanted to know should I keep with the walking, etc. until I reach my goal and then tone up. or should I introduce my body to pilates to try and tone up now?

I suggest doing weights or pilates or whatever right from the start with the aerobics. It'll make you lose more inches along the way, which really helps out if you ever hit a stall... Plus, studies have shown that people who do strength training while watching what they eat, are more likely to succeed, and more likely to stick with a WOE, and happier in general.

I agree with Lyssie. Weights combined with pilates and walking are a wonderful combo. The weight are good for toning, balance (if using free weights), and bone mass. The pilates is great for your core and will improve your walking posture and your weight lifting as well.
If you do choose to work with free weights, do it carefully and don't try to overload with too much weight. It is better to use lighter weights and get the form right than try to do too much and use bad form. Then you are inviting injuries that will send your exercise program into a tailspin.

I never loved exercise and I LOVE weight training. You can see the improvement from week to week and it does wonders for toning. Pilates and I have a love/hate relationship. I love what it does and like most of the classes, but there are some moves that still make me swear under my breath every time I do them! Guess that means they are working! LOL Good luck in whatever you choose.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
