Hi! I am just starting out using Fitday and am not sure how to log my exercise routine in Fitday. I participate in something called Mommy Bootcamp. We workout for an hour. It consists of very high cardio and weight lifting combined. We warm up, rotate through eight different stations and then end with stretching and core work. This is hard-core exercise, not for the faint of heart. I have no idea how to enter this into Fitday, though since it combines weights and cardio. Any advice?

Re: How to log exercise in Fitday?
I would split the time between moderate weight lifting and a cardio that seems to come close to what you are doing. I love fitday for the food but I just started using sparkpeople.com for exercise. They actually give demos on exercise and a much more complete accounting for all types of exercises including weights, pilates, etc. You may want to check it out. It is also a free site. Their food section includes a lot of grocery store products with specific brand information which is nice.
Having said that, Fitday generally counts calories higher so my daily totals there run about 150 cals higher than on Sparkpeople for the same food so I use Fitday to be safe. The exercise on Sparkpeople generally gives me more calories burned than fitday but I have always thought that Fitday kind of underestimates the calories burned somewhat in activities and overestimates in basal. It is harder to meet my activity goal on Sparkpeople so I log into both sites and average things out for me.

I don't know if it does, but my hat is off to you because I bagged walking the other day because of the heat! LOL

I find that entering exact "activity" into FitDay doesn't always work and that entering something similar simply to get the effort into the system is what I am willing to accept. In other words, sometimes you have to "cheat" a little & tweek the system to match what you are doing.Originally posted by tiara510 View PostHi! For example, when I hike, I use the GARMIN 305 hiking gps that calculates distance and calories burned and time expended. I input that time into fitday and compare the two calorie calculations... and I use the one which the gps calculates because its specific to my effort whereas FitDay is a little more general. i.e. you don't hike five miles at exactly 2.5 mph nor 3.0 mph .... so I just tweek it and accept the generality of life. Just don't input an excess wish list that overstates your effort and burned calories.
