  • You CAN do 100 push-ups!

A friend sent me a link to hundredpushups.com where you can follow a custom program designed to get you to a point where you can do 100 consecutive pushups within 2-3 months. The site outlines how many sets of pushups to do 3X per week with reassessments every couple weeks. I thought I'd share the link with everyone and give it a shot on the days I'm not doing the C25K program. I can't imagine running a 5K or doing 100 pushups, but we'll check back in the Fall and see if these two programs can change my attitude (and fitness level!)

Thanks for this Eric! It looks awesome. I love working out but it seems that if I have a plan like the C25k I'll actually stick to it!!! Totally going to try this!

      Eric,

Thanks for posting that link. A friend of mine also sent it to me a few days ago and I did my initial test yesterday. Not so good since I hadn't done a pushup in many years, but I am beginning that program with my first reps tomorrow. I'm anxious to see if at the end (6 weeks if you get it the first time), I'll be able to do 100 consecutive pushups.

That looks so cool. I wonder how much I would fail (I think I seriously injured myself trying to bench too much too quickly - it was over a week ago and still hurts)... Hrm...

Ha! Made it through the first day... and, I can tell that my upper body needs work! I made the levels for day one, but barely. This should be good for me, since most of my exercise has been lower body. Even at goal there is work to be done.

            I needed this!

Re: You CAN do 100 push-ups!

Ok, I made it through the first week of this program. I know it's not a part of this site, but it's been good!

I was very seriously disappointed when I did the initial test to see where to start, but I was in the middle of the pack. I thought people could do more. I only managed 9, yes, 9 pushups the first time I tried it. Today, the 3rd day of week 1 ended up with an initial start of 10, followed 2 minutes later with 8, 2 minutes later with 8 again, 2 more minutes and 5 (that's what the program calls for), and 2 more minutes later followed by 15. That's 46 pushups total, and that's cool!

On to week 2, starting on Friday.

Great work Rick! My wife actually started this week as well. She can already outdo my paltry 15 pushups at once. I wanted to get farther into the C25K (I'm on week 2) before starting this, but I certainly plan to add it in. Thanks for sharing your progress as a motivator for me to start sooner rather than later...

                    Go for it Eric!

I was surprised how quickly I was able to do more of them following this program. After the 2nd day my shoulders were burning... but, it works. Today, on the 3rd day I didn't any shoulder pain at all. Not sure how it will feel tomorrow, but it was a good pain, and good gain.

I'm really excited about this because I've never been able to do a lot of pushups before! I'd love to be able to complete this and be able to do 100 of them consecutively!

Thanks for posting this, i'm definitely going to have to try this!

I was one that said I'd never be able to run 5k when I first started the c25k plan 3 years ago, I was able to do it in 6 weeks (i couldn't run 1 min straight when i started lol). I can now run 4.5 miles and run regularly.

Re: You CAN do 100 push-ups!

Started week 2 of this today. I can certainly do more than I started out at. Hoping to complete this program and do the 100!!! I'm definitely gonna get the t-shirt.

Oh, and by the way, I also purchased a pair of "Pushup Pro" Rotating push up grips... wow! Talk about a workout! Way harder than just normal pushups. You're not just pushing up, but also rotating your wrists as you go up and down, hitting even more muscles. I couldn't do as many reps with them, but they do give a good workout.

Finished week 2 on this program, and then did the assessment before moving to the 3rd week. Glad to say that I've more than doubled my initial test and did 23 pushups without interruption. This might not seem like a lot, but it's so much better than I started. And... in the program, I'm doing 80+ pushups now on the days that I do them. Considering that I wasn't into upper body workouts before, this is amazing... I'd recommend it for anyone!!
