  • exercise IS NOT WORKING!

i'm on 20 - 30 grams of carbs a day, and exersizing at least 5 times a week for 2 hours each time. i exercise on weekends too but not regularly...

i run 10 minutes, walk 50 minutes on the treadmill. and then i do 60 minutes on the elliptical

i also do sit ups and push ups. and a little bit of weight lifting.

i burn myself out to the MAX.

and my total weight loss in a month has barely been 5 pounds. i feel it should be WAY more...its really gettign to be discouraging.

im going to go see a doctor next week for a regular check up but im gonna get tested for thyroid issues because i think theres somethign screwed up with my system..cause i got some other symptoms like dizziness/vertigo etc as well

any suggestions/inspirations would be highly appreciated

I SHOULD ALSO add that along with that exersize schedule i listed, i walk an extra couple miles at least thrice a week outside of the gym. like sometimes i walk to the grocery stores around where i live and other times i take walks after dinner.

How much are you trying to lose. I would give anything to have lost 5 pounds in a month cause I am on a perpetual stall, but the good Doctor said that we should expect to lose from .5 to 2 pounds a week. Looks like your pretty close to that.

you have a point. however i believe that since my work out schedule is so extreme (for me anyways) that i should probably have lost more weight..

thanks though. i hope your issue works out.

i probably just have a slow *** metabolism

have you measures to se how your body is morphing? you are probably adding lean body mass as you are burning up your fat mass which will give you an inches change ans a healthy drop in body fat mass but not much on the sclaes.

Wh has a slow loser here in 2003 who was the inches queen. she lost more inches then pounds she was moaning only lossing 8 pounds in 6 months but when we used her numbers she had added 8 pounds of lean healthy tissues and lost 16 pounds of body fat. She started out as a marchmellow and was converting to an lean Atkineer. Last time I saw her numbers she had lost less then 40 pounds but more then 60 inches using the 6WEC measurements.

Good for you going to see your doc to get your metabolism checked out. If you are deficient in anything even a vit it has ripple effects on weight loss as some enzyme or precursor molecule will not be built and it snowballs exponentially all down the chain

        Happy low carbing.

I agree that you may be adding lean muscle. I've added 6 pounds of it in the last month! I was quite surprised having lost 8% bodyfat and about 25 pounds overall now from my start weight. and i've had lots of inches lost too. I'm working out between 5-7 times a week now as well.

When I started exercising I actually gained 4 pounds I was so disheartened but I lost a ton of inches. For 7 weeks I los nothing but I lost 20 inches all over. It is normal when you start to exercise to put on muscle mass and from what I am gathering from my weight loss now during those 7 weeks I was putting on a lot of muscle and thus no scale loss. I always use body comp to keep track in those 30 days well 4 weels that I saw no loss in weight I actually lost 8 pounds of fat from my measurements put on 4 pounds of muscle. Now in the last 30 days I have put on 5 pounds of muscle lost 8 pounds for a grand total of 12 pounds lost. Don't go by the scale it's not your friend especially when you exercise. The weight will catch up it may take a bit of time. For now measure.

sorry for not following up guys..but yes ive most definitely lost inches. its noticable. i just never kept track of them from the start because i didnt think they mattered that much..

ive cut down excercising to an hour a day now. for 6 days. previously i was doing 2 hours for 7 days.

but i dont think i had been eating enough so along with my basal metabolic rate of burnt calories i was burning a looot in the gym and my metabolism slowed down..i mean protein makes you so full, there's only so much you can eat you know?

but also ive been extremely dizzy all throughout these months of diet and exercise. in the gym, ive been PUSHING myself to work out. i dont get tired. i just dont feel good. physically.

also been having rapid heart beat and etc. im going to go see a doctor soon.

other than that, i also noticed i never really feel hungry..

                scale is the problem

You seem to have the same problem that most people have. You bought a scale and don't have calipers to measure your body fat.

A scale is really useless without measuring your body fat.

We have been brainwashed to think that we want to lose weight. That is the biggest mistake. You should not want to lose weight. You should want to lose fat. You cannot tell if you are losing fat unless you know your body fat %. Chances are with all that you are working out, you are not losing muscle - unlike most people who do atkins. Since many people who do atkins do not work out, the weight they lose often includes muscle - no matter what anyone tells you, unless you are weight training to maintain your muscles, you are not only losing fat when you lose weight.

overall, it sounds like your workout is not the best. sit down with a trainer at the gym and come up with a better one. you should probably not need more than 60 minutes of cardio per day, if you are at your target hear rate - otherwise there are diminishing returns.

good for you going to see your doctor. Dizziness and rapid heart rate isn't soemthng to be ignored. Sounds like you got an electrolyte problem going on at the very least or something worse.

Checkyour Atkins because you should not be eating all that protein Atkins is a ketogenic eating plan and 65% of the induction cals come from healthy fats not protein as some people make that mistake and do a high protein low carb low fat plan. Your total protein intake should not exceed 30% of your total daily cals.

As we get to maintemance phase ewe have slowly lowered our fats to around 50% kept the proteins at 30% and raised thew carbs. Some nonstrenuous exercisers can even lower their proteins a bit but Dr Atkins warns us in DANDR never get the carbs higher then the proteins.

                  Happy low carbing.
