Hi, as the title suggests, my interests are in devleoping my lower stomach muscles. Doing crunches now which seem to be firming up the upper muscles but what about the lower? Thanks for any answers.

Re: Lower stomach muscles
Totally what Betty said -anything that raises your legs... for the reverse ones, I do them reclining on my forearms, then crunch just legs in and straighten out, keeping about 2-3 inches off the floor.
You can also do the leg raises - lay on your back, keep your legs straight and lift them towards the ceiling until they are perpendicular with the floor. Now, keeping them straight (which is hard at this point), lower slowly.. don't touch the floor at the bottom, lift them back up and start over again.
If you have access to somewhere you can hang from, you can always hang, then bring your knees to chest, or lift your legs straight up in front of you that way.27/f/5'10"

Re: Lower stomach muscles
Sorry to get back to this thread so late. Thank you all for the tips. Was doing the leg lifts and it hurts the curve of my lower back. Kind of a shooting pain from my back to my ankle. Maybe the hanging exercise will work. Thanks again for the replys

Re: Lower stomach muscles
Well, keep in mind there are many many varieties of crunches... and ones that involve keeping your legs perpendicular to the floor, or crunching them up at the same time as your upper body work both lower and upper abs at the same time.27/f/5'10"
