I've started going for walks, and was wondering just how far I'd been walking, as I walk in/out/around the different streets around me. I discovered the Google Pedometer website which allowed me to calculate the exact distance (both in miles and kilometers) and its a fantastic site!!!
I've been able to calculate my route at 2.1 miles / 3.5 kilometers and it takes me about 50 minutes to walk it. The beginning and ending "legs" are uphill, so the first uphill stretch gets my heart rate up, and the final one leaves me with a good sense of accomplishment when I've finished.
Does anybody here use walking poles while walking, and have they noticed a difference in your workout? Perhaps I could try them, or maybe soft hand weights to help work out the arms too. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I tried to add a link to the Google Pedometer site I found but I kept getting an error saying the tag I had entered was too short? Don't know about that but if you google it up I'm sure you'll find it.
