  • loose skin ?

    hello ...

Have you guys had some loose skin after weightloss? does it go away or do you have to exercise it ?

for example : underarms. Thighs. LOVEHANDLES !!

    Any treatments?

should i put priority on weightlifting for the loose skin or running and swimming and aerobic ( which im guessing doesnt do anything for these body parts(loose skin) ) ?

    Thanks alot

    Re: loose skin ?

1.Yeah i've had a little, I fill it in with muscle to make it appear better, seems to work. The skin will tighten up over time a little bit depending on your age, genetics, water consumption among other factors.

2.Treatments, those creams some people swear by them personally I don't think they work. Your skin is an organ, it adapts, right now its just stretched out and it will eventually work its way down a bit.

3.Working out will help, for your arms the best bet is to work them with some weights, you can build up a little muscle underneath that loose skin and fill it in very nicely.

4.Surgery, I am not a fan of it at all, many people have undergone an abdomnioplasty or a partial to remove loose skin around their stomach area its about 3000-5000$ dollars so for me thats not an option. Watch your diet, try to not loose too fast, and workout are my advice.

      ok thanks.

I hope the lose skin tights up by time.

Im thinking maybe its because atkins is a high fat diet? is that why maybe the lose skin (fat) ?

      take care.

The weightloss method used doesn't have any effect on excess skin. If you are going to end up with it, you can do weight watchers or atkins, and the results will be the same. Your best bet is to incorporate exercise into your plan.

I remeber reading somewhere that it takes approx 5 years for your body to snap back into place, but I'm not sure.

Takes between 2-5 years however thats dependant on alot of factors and just a rule of thumb.

amrsalem-- it is better to have a little loose skin for awhile than to be overweight! Like 2big says, it's what's in the skin that's bad when it's fat!

You have a layer of fat under the skin, and the more overweight you are the more fat there. It's fat deposits from excess fuel in your body. Like before Atkins, carbs would be turned into glucose and used for fuel, any additional fuel would then be stored as fat. Now that we limit our carbs, we are using fat (from diet) and body fat for fuel, so really in a way you are eating your own bodyfat! Hope that isn't too gross

Thats kinda good because were using more of our body fat and burning it.

                            I like that!

I have been doing deep tissue massage on my body and it's really helping me with the lose skin I have it on my belly and since doing it my belly has really bounced back I am very pleased with the way it is looking. Basically with the lose skin there is a layer of fat on it that is why it won't snap back you need to get rid of the fat on the bottom layer of skin. This is very difficult. I have been using TEa Tree oild to invigorat the skin increasing blood flow thus helping my body to rid myself of this fat under my skin. When it hangs like it does the blood does not circulate as well and it helps to massage the area. It takes time but, it does help. For an example skin is very thin organ like pinching the hand you pinch it the skin is very thin. Now if you pinch where your lose skin is it's not that thin it is quite thick. That is a fat larer underneith this is why the massage helps to break this up. I really hope this helps. I have been helping my friend as she has lost a tramendous amount of weight she has been doiung the massage and it has helped her lose a lot of inches and her skin is bouncing back. It takes time but, I figure if you can help then why not. I don't want to wait 5 years or whatever I want it sooner so I am going to kep on massaging.
