My favorite is walking. Whether I'm doing it on the treadmill while reading a book or watching the television or my very favorite out with the family on a walk. It is the lowest impact on my knees and enjoyable to get out with the kids.

Like Donna, I prefer walking, preferably in our small town's park, which has a duck pond and a meandering path shaded by huge oak trees ... once over the path and twice around the pond, at a brisk pace, takes 30 minutes. But treadmills are good, too, and my new gym has a bunch of 'em.

Playing tennis is by far my favorite. Why is my favorite.... hmm, I guess it's just fun. Although when I started playing I liked tennis because it was more elegant than other sports.

I like running. I just started with it this spring. Did the C25K programme with a couple of other ADBBers and got hooked. Now I find running relatively easy - just putting on shoes and getting out there. When I have finished a run (jog) (5K or 10K), I really feel that I have worked out. I do other things as well and I like them but I tend to procrastinate more with them. But when I go outside with my runners on, I cannot but run.

I'd have to say the elipitical machine because its easier on my feet than running. A good hour at a brisk speed and Im content.

Hands down- Jazzercise. The workouts are thorough, they vary, the music bumps, there's something for everyone and they're just downright fun.

After that- dancing. Any kind of dancing, so long as it makes me break a sweat (and it always does).

Strength training. What's not to love?!

I love yoga! I started doing it 7 years ago as a way to ease te stress of my second back to back pregnancy and have never looked back. It gives me a sense of well being, tones and shapes my body and keeps me flexible

I love working out to my dvd's from Beach Body. I have various series. The music is great. I can do it whenever I want, and noone else around to bumped into And I can wear whatever I want too, and not feel embarassed about bouncing around!

Swimming would be number one. Burns huge calories but you don't perceive it as a hard workout, and easy on joints.

                    After that I am torn.

                      Re: Favorite exercise?

Aha you guys are great! I can tell by your postings that you really dig your exercises. I think this is one of the best things about Atikins is that it (and we at ADBB) encourage exercise. It's great that there are so many choices now. So I've noticed a lot of ADBBers are into exercise and wanted to take an informal qualitative research poll.

I can relate to several (good old walking is great, and running is very good once you get into 2-3 miles at a clip, outside is fun and the treadmill is great with ESPN or some great music on), beach body workout at home for privacy-yeah I hear you, I do some cals at home). I want to try a few (yes I plan to try yoga to be more more in shape and flexible ... and I could try Jazzercise I can see where that would be fun cardio...are there guys in there too? plus swimming to burn calories once I get to my gw), and I like biking and other activities. But lately for me it's strength training 'what's not to love?' ... exactly. I get a rush and feel great. It is a feeling of accomplishment moving those weights around. Results are amazing. The elliptical slays my legs, I need to go after that one again. Tennis could be good to get into - I really like watching the tournaments and I have a good backhand from little I've played.
                      Thank you!

Treadmill and recumbent bike....I've had total knee replacements and spine surgery...no hard impact exercises for me....but these two tools work up a sweat and get me moving...I'm 68 and young at heart...just need to get the weight off and I'll be even better!
