The short story: 26.2 miles in 4:33:42. A 2 minute and 5 second PR over my prior best (4:35:47 at Disney).
Not quite the 4:30 I had been looking for, but I'll take it.
The weather was perfect. 45 at the start. Close to 60 at the finish. Overcast to start, sunny at the finish. The course was mostly flat with a couple of decent hills in a park area around miles 10 to 12.
Ran the entire race at a consistent pace. No "WALL" was encountered anywhere along the way. Felt strong through those "WHAT AM I DOING?" miles (those are miles 21 through 24 when you realize that after running 20 miles, you still have 6.2 miles left and hence begin to question your motivation for being out there). In fact, ran my best mile of the race the last mile.
That was marathon number 7. Number 8 is seven short weeks away. Taking this week off. Next week starts a 3 week ramp up of miles followed by a 3 week taper. Running St. Jude's Memphis Marathon. I can hardly wait...
