  • Schedule Me!

    Please help.

My work schedule is about to change SOON! I need some ideas on how to 'schedule in' exercise (aerobic and anaerobic).

In a nut shell, my schedule Monday thru Friday will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. I will have 1 hour for lunch. Morning exercise is out of the question. I have kids to get to school and daycare.

If things go as planned we should be home, on average, around 6:00 pm. And then there's dinner, homework, etc.

Saturday and Sunday will be no problem exercise-wise.

Any suggestions? How do YOU fit exercise into your work / family day?

    Re: Schedule Me!

Is your lunch hour set in stone (like, do you have people depending on you EXACTLY the minute your lunch is over, or do you work somewhere that it's OK to have wet hair or something) or do you have some freedom? I know people who will exercise for 30-45 minutes on their lunch break, shower, and eat lunch afterward at their desk.

I don't know how old your kids are, but is there a way for the whole family to exercise? Maybe long walks before/after dinner, or jogging, or playing in the park?

I would say, do your weightlifting at lunch (since that takes less time and you don't usually sweat as much) and do cardio in the evenings with family. Just a suggestion...

        Re: Schedule Me!

@ julirama723: Yeah, my lunch will probably be set in stone. It will be a go go go 'professional' type of job. Being outside with the kids at 6:00 pm (7 years and 1 year old) is a no-go because of the cold and lack of daylight.

According to Google, the closest gym to my job will be Curves (which is out of my price range right now

@ANITELI: I think I'll have to do it like you. Just do it after the kids are to bed. I'll sit down and redo my old fitness spreadsheet. Out of curiosity, what time do you usually go to bed? What time do you usually get up? I'm a NIGHT PERSON, so adjusting to this new schedule is going to require some prayer.

Ok. I get two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. I need to use this to my advantage ...
