  • How do I incorperate all this!?I need help please!

    Hi I am kinda new to exercising and really trying to stick with it, i want to add more things in, but im not sure how.
    here it goes..
    i go to the gym usually mon-thurs and do weight training(alternating upper and lower body) and do 20 minutes of the eliptical(corss trainer) machine or bike or treadmil.
    but i have an arobic video that i want to do and its only about 20 min. and i also have those 8 min abs/legs/arms/butt video that want to start doing- thing is is i have a normal 8-5 work schedule and then i usually go home and watch tv so how do i fit this all in so i get excited abou it and work out more, or can i do all of it?
    this maybe didnt make a lot of sense but i guess i needs someone to organize it for me, i go to the gym during luch to weight train and do cardio but i think i need to do more cardio and quit being lazy and stop quiting after 20 min cuz im getting tired. thanks- and sorry to ramble

    I actually made up a schedule, and made sure I put in a rest day. Maybe I'm weird, but when I first started I felt good about completing my exercise for that day. Believe me, I am NOT a morning person, but I go spinning twice a week at 6:30 am before work, and swimming once a week at 7:00 am before work. As painful as it is getting my arse out of bed those days, I really feel great after.

    I'm still wallowing in my misery not being able to follow my schedule with this blasted knee thing. I'm still waiting x-ray results. I'm going to see a chiro. later this week too. *heavy sigh*

      I'd split it up like this. I feel you are much better off with an organized and concentrated routine, with a good rest period in between there. This allows you to focus your energy on what you need to get done instead of tiring out so quickly trying to cram it all in. I assume the videos you can do at home on the weekend.

      Monday = Weight Training UPPER
      Tuesday = Treadmill + Bike
      Wednesday = Weight Training LOWER + Eliptical Machine
      Thursday = Weight Training UPPER
      Friday = REST/Relaxing Walk Outdoors
      Saturday = Aerobic Video(20 minutes) + Ab Video(8 minutes)
      Sunday = REST/Relaxing Walk Outdoors

          Steph, I have a chart done in excel that I put in my weights and cardio minutes every day - it really helps motivate me to look back on it. Even a notebook would do the trick - just use it as a workout diary

          The routine above Jake did for you looks perfect

            Split it up into multiple sessions if you want to. Research has proven the 3 sessions of 10 minutes of cardio is just as effective as one 30 minute session
