    3 miles in.

Forecast for Saturday morning in Memphis is 28 degrees. That will be by far the coldest marathon start I've had.

Seems like yesterday I was running my first marathon.
    Saturday will be number 8.

No posts until Sunday or Monday.

        Re: Cool Running for December

        Thanks for the luck!

        Brought the laptop to Memphis.
My "unofficial" time is around 4:55. Not my best, but I'll take it.
The weather was real cold (27 degrees and windy) and the course was pretty hilly.

My brother and I raised over $900 for St. Judes Children Hospital.

Taking the next week off from running.

Trying to decide what's next. Kicking around St. Louis or Louisville this Spring. Maybe the Marshall Marathon in West Virginia in the Fall.

        Take care everyone.

          Re: Cool Running for December

Well, the week off turned into 3 weeks off. I was definitely battling burn out.

Back at it today with 3 miles in. Tough going. I have definitely lost some endurance.

Running an 8k race tomorrow. Going to take it easy. Could be 2 to 5 inches of new snow on the ground by morning.

          Where is everyone?

            Re: Cool Running for December

            Hi ya Rich!!

Sorry I've been AWOL ... how was Memphis????????????

I'm starting to run more miles these days after 18 VERY SUCCESSFUL physical therapy sessions for my foot. The pain is nearly gone now, although stiffness remains, but even that is becoming less and less.

I've abandoned my plan to run the March 1 marathon, but I am going to shoot for the Feb 28 15k. Right now, I'm back to running 5+ miles 4 days a week, and slowly adding more until I get to the 9 mile mark. Will see how it goes. Trying to be patient..............

Rest up, good buddy .. burnout is not a good thing.

            HAPPY NEW YEAR !

              Re: Cool Running for December

Welcome back Betty! Nice to see you up and running again.

Memphis was OK. It was the 4th marathon of 2008 and I was ready for some time off. Finished in 4:50 or so. Off my best, but good enough.

8k road "race" in today. If you can call sloshing through 3 to 4 inches of soft squishy snow in 25mph winds and sub freezing wind chills a race.

Finished in 52 minutes and some. Around 10:30 pace. Good considering my 3 week absence.

              Happy New Year everyone.

                Re: Cool Running for December

Rich, congrats on the 4:50 finish! Personally, I'd faint if I ever finished that strong!!! You rock, my friend!

As for me, I ran 5.6 miles yesterday (New Years Day) and rode 14 miles on the bike today (1/2). 6 mile run on tap for tomorrow as I very S L O W L Y build to 9.3 miles in preparation for the Feb 28th 15k! So far, not a whole lot of protest from my foot ... hoping that continues....
