I switched my 3 times a week walk into a walk/jog at the beginning of the month and I'm amazed to say that as of today, I am jogging more than I'm walking! It's blown me away how quickly my stamina has built up.
I don't go very fast, and I wouldn't call it a run, but I surprised myself today by continuing to jog instead of walking where I usually walk on one stretch.
My goal is to go this route (I'm not sure how far I'm actually going, but it takes me about 40 minutes from start to finish) for the rest of the month, and then in April, do the whole route, which is 2725 meters x 2, which will make it over 2 miles, I think.

I absolutely love the running, but am deathly afraid of injury, so I've been taking it slow and easing into everything.

Awesome Moochie!! :icondance :joy Girl, you are doing it THE RIGHT WAY!! Most joggers/runners make the huge mistake of going too fast (I was guilty of that too in the beginning) and that's how you end up burned out or injured! You rock girl!! Keep it up and soon you'll be doing 3, 4, or 5 miles at a time!

Just make sure you don't increase your mileage more than 10% a week. That's very important ... and have GREAT running shoes ... which will protect your knees. 300-500 miles maximum on your shoes then replace them. If you have a heart rate monitor, use it to make sure you are in your fat burning zone ... if you don't have one, consider getting one. They are essential IMO!!

Great job girlie! Keep it up!

Hey cardio kids!! Happy Saturday to all!!

I just got back from the 10k ... finished at a personal best of 1 hour 14 minutes ... not bad for a nearly 50 year old rookie runner!! :joy

That gives me 27 miles for this week ... in 4 days of running! WOOHOO!! The legs are tired but inspired!!!

Rest day tomorrow, then a new week of running starts Monday!!

                Love it love it!!

Hope you all have a terrific weekend!

                :hug

                  Great job, everyone!

Way to go on the 10K Betty! :joy

Thursday was an off day, and Friday I did my usual 2.5 miles. I planned to run again today, but ended up working this morning, and got lazy this afternoon. I did do 40 min. of Tae Bo, but no run :sadblinky

                  Tomorrow is a new day!
