  • Throwing up during mild run?

I got up this morning really early to run around the pond we have at our apartment. It is a lovely little loop. Anyway, about halfway through my planned workout, I wanted to quit really badly. I thought that I was just being a baby...I had a bit of an internal battle - it was like fighting with a little kid! I compromised with one more good lap and then go inside. About halfway through my lap, I threw up! It was so weird...I have NEVER thrown up from exercise. I pushed myself, but I wasn't being ridiculous. I hadn't eaten anything - I took a vitamin and a glass of water with fiber before I ran. I had drank a full bottle of water, and that is pretty much what came out. It was almost like my body didn't want to absorb the water? I feel fine now - a bit of a headache, but that's it. Does anyone have any theories behind this?

i can't exercise in the morning without eating anything or else i throw up. i dunno i think it's normal. just have a bit of a snack before you go. also, vitamin pills can upset your stomach if you don't eat them with food so this might be effecting you too.

Yes, I agree with Jas. If I take vitamins on an empty stomach I feel extremely sick and nauseaous. I would blame it on the vitamins and early morning exercise.

I'm going to third the motion. LOL

If you weren't pushing yourself too hard so your body was warning you to knock it off- then yep..it's likely the water and vitamins.

I'm 100% sure its because you took your vitamins on an empty stomach. My bf was taking OneADay weightloss multivitamins and every morning he didnt eat he threw up ridiculously at work. That, plus the pushing of the exercise probably did the trick. Eat some eggs or somethin in the morning before you run.. its a much safer bet

I too will agree with the vitamin theory. If I take one a day on an empty stomach it takes everything in my willpower to stop my self from throwing up.

Not sure what it is...it seems to be just th multi that does this. my fish oils, vit d, etc don't seem to bother me at all.

It could also be dehydration. Perhaps you didn't drink as much water as usual yesterday? That would also explain the headache you are experiencing now.

Re: Throwing up during mild run?

This happened to me several times last summer. I thought it was the exercise at first but then I narrowed it down to the vitamins. Seems like the multi and the C are the worst for me. And earlier in the morning I take it the more likely I am to be retching afterwards.

this kinda thing has happened to me before. my friend who is a fitness trainer, told me its due to low sugar levels. because you'r only taking in protein, your body for a while doesnt get enough fuel, especially for running and exercise. so you might get faint, and be sick.

this actually happened to me before i even started the atkins.so it is quite normal. before i piled on a few pounds,i would sometimes over exercise, with no food in my belly. and after a while i would feel sick. i rang my mate, and thats when he told me to just eat some carbs or maybe a tea with sugar. i did,and after 20min i felt fine again.

off course,we cant do that with atkins.
maybe just take it a bit easier until your body adjusts to the radical diet change.

off course i'm no expert. if it doesnt get better even with a lighter workout, then i would see a doctor. but my experience was thats its normal.

Vitamins on an empty stomach definitely make me ill. So does over exertion. I threw up once running, and once over doing weights at the gym.
