  • Need help with muscle soreness

This is funny, but I got really sore delts I think they are - the muscle group in between the shoulder blades. It's from my new cleaning job.

I clean 3 hours a day for 5 days a week, and the majority of the work is vacuuming, sweeping, making beds and mopping floors. I love the physical activity, it's just I don't know if I'm using the right form when doing the vacuuming and mopping and so on to stop these muscles getting sore

Any suggestions? I can't take a break between 'workouts' as it's an every day job. I'm careful of my lower back as I get back pain, so most of the stress is on my shoulders.

Who would've thought cleaning could be so physical? I love it

Odd question, i'll give an odd answer. :P

Yep thats your delts. First of all, are you working the delts in your weight lifting routine? Maybe they are sore from the combo of that and your job maybe adjust your weight training to avoid the delts more if they are getting a workout cleaning.

Second I'd say your positioning while cleaning, try tucking your elbows in more this will bring some strain off the delts.

Third you can try and stregthen them using your weights.

Thanks Jake - yep I work shoulders/back 1x a week with upright rows, lat raises, bent over rows and shoulder presses, though it has been hard doing that this week. I'll look up what exercises uses that muscle specifically and maybe swap for something to work the shoulder tip delts instead.

How did ya know about the tip when cleaning huh? hehehe I'll give that one a go Today was sheer **** but I get two days off now to give them a rest.

Probably should've done number 3 before starting the job, well I have but since I started with muscles the size of marbles, it's an ongoing battle

try alternating your grip so you are giving them an equal workout too. And can you do any of those things onehaneded to give the other delt a reas time? they should feel better on day 4 as all returning jocks who didn't do the offseason conditioning that day one is cool day 2 hurtrs like heck day 3 is a little better and then day four you can move again

Actually did some of the vacuuming one handed yesterday 2big as I was too sore Works fine as long as it isn't a messy patch that requires two hands.

Been doing this for two weeks now, but really the last few days were the only time I noticed the soreness. Although I was stupid and came home and ended up cleaning my kitchen from top to bottom, so maybe I just overdid it.

Ahh well, I love the fact my job is working out some muscles too. Maybe by summer next season I'll even have some back muscles to show off
