  • Eating before excercise

    hello,

I'm addition to my nighlty hour walk, I'm joining the gym :icondance

I'm planning on going each morning before work and alternating between some classes (RPM, Pump etc) and weights.

As the classes are at 06:00, I'm planning on waking at 05:30 and walking to the gym (about ten minutes away).

What I'm unsure of, is what to eat prior to working out.

I normally have a lo-carb shake from powder with psyillium for breakfast, but I hate excercising with anything liquidy (other than water) in my stomach, even a cup of coffee can me feel queasy.

    Any recommendations?

Can you take the shake in a container with you to have when you finish your workout?

If you feel strong enough to work out on an empty stomach, then go for it. I used to run 4.2 miles on an empty stomach 3 days a week without a problem. I would, however, eat a high protein brekkie shortly after my run.

Congrats on joining a gym, and best wishes to you!!

The shaker is a good idea but unless I mix my shake in a blender, the consistency makes me gag (litterally!)

I don't think I'd be good on an empty stomach.

I think I'll try and get in the habit of making up a cold meat roll / wrap with some cream cheese before I go to bed so I can nibble it on the walk.

I've just done my first Pump class, my legs are so wobbly!

I'm signing up tomorrow, I just hope I can stay this motivated for the full twelve months!

read my post about doing a cardio workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach - that is the BEST time for cardio. If you joined a gym for weights instead, then I might have different opinion...
