I have read posts about people wondering whether is is even better to count carbs and calories.
I want to make one thing very clear. You can burn fat only if you have a calorie deficit. This can be achieved in 2 ways:
1) decrease your calorie intake from food; and
2) increase the amount of calories you burn through exercise
Some people (especially most who use the low-fat diets) think that cutting calories is the best way. However, a large calorie deficit will cause muscle loss and make your body enter the "starvation mode." This will slow your metabolism and does a lot of other bad stuff.
So, without question, the best way to burn fat is to make exercise a part of your life.
Cardio plus weight training is the only way to lose fat without slowing down your metabolism.
Don't believe the hype about supplements.
If you can't do both cardio and weight training - focus on cardio for now.
