I'm on Extended Induction. My exercise goal is to eventually run 5k. I started walking 1mile @ 2.5mph for 24 min for 4 days on my treadmill. I would love to work myself up to at least a 30-45 exercise session but I'm sooo pooped out the next day with just the 24 min. I'm tired and I feel like I'm dragging my legs around. I see runners on this board running tons of miles. Should I give myself more time for my body to adjust to 24min? What should I do?

Re: Tired
I suggest giving yourself a rest day. When I started running last spring I started very slow - run 60 seconds walk 90 seconds for the first twenty minutes then adding to that. But the most important is to rest one day - run/walk the next.
And give yourself plenty of time.
Also have a bit to eat after your work out. I do some proteins. And make sure you are getting your healthy carbs in. Veggies rock
Here is the running training programme I used when you are ready to try something

Re: Tired
What a difference a day makes! Liv, thank you so much for your advice. Since I'm feeling so good today, as advised I decided to put a rest day between each exercise day. I do like the Cool Running 5K plan. However I decided I will have to wait until I take more weight off of my knees before I start running. I look forward to running soon.sigpic
