  • coffee before exercising?

    I wasn't going to work out this morning as I was a little sore from yesterday, and drank a large mug of decaf with cream. Then I decided to work out - and it was fine.
    I usually work out in the morning, so I have an empty stomach - the thought of food makes me a little naseous. Does anyone drink cofffee before they work out? Or what do you eat? And does it affect your progress?

    I try to have something before exercise. I go with protein because it really sustains me. But if I exercise right after I get up I just skip it because eating RIGHT before exercise does not work well for me.
    Some studies show it can be good to have coffee before exercise.

      I just finished a snack while riding my stationary bike...1/2c broccoli/cauliflower mix, 14 pepperoni chips and a string cheese.....by the time I get to the end of my ride (20 miles) my muscles won't be tired and hurting. When I exercise first thing in the morning I make sure I have some sort of protein before or during - if I don't eat I throw up.

      As far as coffee before I have a cup when I first wake up w/splenda and a little cream then start drinking my 150 oz of water daily. Haven't really noticed a difference one way or another.
