  • ketosis and exercise

I really upped my exercise the past couple of days, thanks to the accountability of the 6 wk challenge. All of a sudden, I notice that my ketones went from registering a light pink/ dark pink to bright purple. I know that purple can merely be a sign of dehydration, but I also should add that I am working to get all my water in each day as well. The past two days I have had well over my normal amount.

Thus, my question, does exercising have a direct result on your ketosis level?

    Thanks.
    149.8/no weigh/ 119

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

    Re: ketosis and exercise

Yep. Exercise will help in establishing ketosis (and producing more ketones), because it accelerates the breakdown of liver glycogen.

      Re: ketosis and exercise

I thank if one limits carbs and walks for a few hours then they would get into ketosis faster.

I am 5'11' was 180 pounds at age 22 and started gain about 10 pounds a year after the military.

I did it to myself. I want to be skinnier by my 31st birthday.
If I walk 3 miles a day and do atkins how much wait do you think I can lose?
