Thanks EmDee and for the rep How are things going with you? Any back pain?

Well I dragged myself out of the house to run finally at 8pm. But I did it so W3D1 is done. Wasn't too bad. The programme does work.

Oh, can I join? I will probably be starting it this weekend as the rest of my weeknights/mornings are swamped!

I can barely run 60 seconds, so we'll see how well I do. Gotta start somewhere. Definitely need new sneakers. I have used and abused my poor New Balances to the point of exhaustion.

Speaking of which, how often do you guys change up your sneakers? I was told that if you exercise a lot and where them often you should every 3-4 months.

Hi Bellajgw! Happy to have you join us When I started this for the very first time I couldn't run 60 seconds without wanting to die. This programme will build you up slowly and gradually - just make sure you stretch before and after and don't be afraid to repeat a week if found it too hard.

I try to replace shoes every 6 months, but sometimes it's yearly. But I have three pairs of shoes I rotate so they last longer.

When is you wedding by the way?

Week three complete! Yay! Was ok. Ran with Kev and he barely got out of breath!

I've got further through the plan now than on my last attempt.

Was injured this weekend before I could even attempt to run dang back injuries. I'm feeling much better today and hope to be 100% by tomorrow. While I may not "run" I will be exercising and hopefully running this weekend!

Oh no, sorry to hear about your back - hope will be up and running soon

Did week 4, day 1 yesterday. It was actually ok! I coped with the 5 minute segments ok. It really does work!

Re: Couch to 5k - calling new/lapsed runners!

I've just started jogging/running on the treadmill. I did look at the Couch-to-5k but I felt having never run, being in my 40's and still weighing over 200lbs I needed something a little slower and found this website How to Go From Sedentary to Running in Five Steps

I think it will take me a little longer than 3 months to run 5k but I'm really enjoying it. I'm on my second week and it does feel a little easier this week
                Started 9th September 2008
                Start weight 319 lbs
                Current weight 189 lbs
                Total lost 130 lbs
                Next goal - 165lbs by 30th June 2010
                Final goal weight 151 lbs
Getting there 1 lb at a time.

Re: Couch to 5k - calling new/lapsed runners!

                  Hi everyone,
I haven't posted for a while but found your thread about starting to run. I seem to have a problem getting off the computer chair. We've had so much rain, I don't go outside, but since I have a treadmill, that can't be an excuse. I just can't seem to get motivated, now that my 2 girls are living with their hubby/fiance. I also need to get new orthotics for my shoes, which should be a priority, since my feet hurt after work now.

So, all that said, I'm going to join this thread and I've bookmarked the "How to go from sendentary to running...." page. I have a dog that would love to be walked, so today I will walk him (if it doesn't pour rain!) and I will use the treadmill.

                  Thanks for being here,

                  Suzanne

Even though Im unfit now, im naturally a good runner, I have been running 3 miles each day this week so far.
Although that seems about my limit for now

Hey everyone! I'm currently in week 2 but on my last day, completed today. I also continue to run/walk until I get 3 miles. I feel great and it's really making a difference. Hope you don't mind me posting my c25k stuff here.

I just started Couch to 5k this past Tues and completed W1D2 tonight. I want to run my first 5k race in December. The first day was great but tonight was tough. My shins were killing me. I'm glad I found this thread!!

                          Great job, Langford!

Got another workout in! I really do like this program. If you enjoy running, and haven't for quite some time, it really is the best way to get started again. I miss the days where I could run until I was actually tired - and not because my shins, calves or feet are aching too bad.

I will get back there again!

Finished up week 3 today. And, although I probably shouldn't have, I stacked the first workout of week 4 on top of it. Made it through ok! How is everyone else holding up? Anyone?

Another workout week down! Moving on to week 4. How is everyone else doing? I'm feeling pretty good, so I'm thinking about adding another run early in the morning - just want to be careful not to over do it.
