  • Beginning to exercise and have a question

Have any of you guys had to deal with an extreme snap crackle pop sound from your joints? My shoulders do it, the cartilage is gone in my knees (pretty bad for a 35 year old eh?) and this is rough. I've gotten better, a year ago I was walking with a cane most of the time.

Anyway, when you already have problems do they get worse with the exercise? I know I've read that the deep knee bends are great for arthritic knees, just not sure about everything else. Thanks.

My knees squeek & groan when going up or down stairs, I've also had problems with my feet. I can tell you that both have improved dramatically with the weight loss. I tend to stick with lower-impact exercise because of it. Cycling is an excellent cardio workout and very low impact. The elliptical-style machines too. I also walk alot. I am thinking of working up to jogging at some point, but plan to lose a lot more weight before I subject my joints to that kind of abuse

I use pain to judge how far to push my joints, rather than the noise...If it really hurts, or aches badly for days, it is too much (IMO-this is what I use to judge what is good for me). Like I said before...both the pain & the noise are MUCH better since I've lost 80+ pounds. Hope this helps

Oooo, jogging, I don't think I would ever be ready for that without new knees! I have thought about cycling before, I might buy a bike this spring and try it out. Thanks for the reply!!
