  • Wii fit

I am considering buying the Wii for our daughter for Christmas, and of course want a "game" that I can use when she leaves for college. She said she tried the Wii Fit at a friend's house and would use it, it was fun! Which surprised me, as an exercise hater. My questions about it:

What games should I buy for it?
Do I need the balance board?
What about bad back and knees?

If any of you have had some experience in this, let me know. The two threads on this were old, and I understand they revamped to a Wii Fit Plus, so I only need that game plus a balance board (according to Amazon.)

Any advice on this would be most welcome!

    Re: Wii fit

I got my Wii fit last year. It came with the game AND the balance board. I do not know if the Wii Fit Plus is available to purchase as a bundle with the board. Regardless, yes, you would need the board. Beyond that, I have EA Sports Active game. Its just ok for me...I don't use it much and personally, prefer the Wii Fit over that.

I think Wii Fit is low impact. If you go to Ninentdo's web site, you should be able to see video clips of it. Or I believe Amazon has some, and there is always Youtube.

Good luck...let me know if you have more questions. We got the Wii for my son, and even he admits that I use it more than he does.

      Re: Wii fit

I bought the WiiFit for myself earlier this year. I love it. Yes, you will need the board.

The activities on WiiFit are 'gentle' - and many to chose from. There's Yoga, Strength Training, Balance and Cardio, but as a beginner, it's very easy. You work up to more challenge as you gain experience.

I don't have the WiiFit Plus, but hoping to get it for christmas.

I also have Wii Sports and Wii Play - they came with the bundle when I purchased...they are both very fun. The WiiPlay basically teaches you how to use the remote. The WiiSports has bowling, tennis, golf and baseball.

      Enjoy.

        Re: Wii fit

When you buy the Wii I would suggest also getting the new Wii Fit Plus and also Wii Sports Resort for loads of active fun.

You will need the Wii Fit Plus that comes with the balance board. The game alone is for those who want to upgrade from the original Fit Plus game (they already have the balance board). A silicone skin for the balance board is a nice accessory and keeps the board clean. They come in clear as well as bright colors (I got pink ). My skin came in a bundle with a power pack for the board that uses the USB port on the Wii instead of batteries. I like it a lot.

The Wii itself should come with a game. Mine came with Wii Sports which is fun but I soon also bought the Sports Resort game for even MORE fun activities.

All of the Wii "games" I have work for all levels of fitness, including uber beginners like myself. This also was my first experience with video games and I had no trouble with that either.
