  • Just joined a gym today =)

so today is the start of my 2nd week of induction. I haven't worked out in a year. I just joined a gym today. Also I recently had foot surgery and I can't do any running, walking or bicycling for a few more days. But I want to get started ASAP! lol. Any tips on work outs i can do right now to help loose weight with my diet. Will the work out make me more hungry, and tips on how to stay below 20 carbs and get a good work out?

I never had any issue with working out and Atkins. Working out will allow you to eat more carbs, but most of us don't have to add more carbs to work out. Despite what some (most?) people believe, you don't need to consume a bunch of carbs to exercise, because glucose can be made not only from dietary carbohydrates, but also from protein and fat.

In the first days of Induction, you might experience low energy levels and this will reflect in your workout, but this should go away as your body becomes efficient at using fatty acids for fuel.

Make sure you have good vitamin and mineral intakes, and are not undereating. You can check this in FitDay.

And yes, depending on the intensity of your workout, you might need more calories.

does your gym have a pool? if so water aerobics or lap swimming might be best until your foot is cleared to workout again. many gyms have free trainer seesion for new members so see if you could get some upper body weight training that will allow you to sit while doing and you know you can work on your abs without your foot being involved with some lay backes crunches and side flyaways.

Have fun and expect to be sore and maybe see some temporary scale weight increase for the fluids your muscles are going to store cause you upped their load. Brook can add 5 pounds just changing her workout video so be sure you measure so you don't get disheartened.

Remember carbs for fuel are not dietary carbs when anybody is talking about your muscles need carbs for fuel ..... blah blah blah....
