im 25 and I cant swim, thats so pathetic but I've just never had the chance to learn. Now my BF and I have major holiday coming up to turkey and I have to learn or poor BF wont be able to go scuba diving and do all the cool watersports, and also I feel it's time to learn, I'd love to do a few lengths after my gym workout. I'm not scared of the water or anything and I can swim underwater and do the backstroke just not front crawl or breaststroke. Any tips for when I go to the pool later today?

Re: any tips for learning to swim??
Sounds like you have the hard part done where you can maneuver underwater and do the backstroke. Here are some online instructions for other strokes but taking some lessons from an instructor is so much easier. Also, they can give you tips as they watch how you do your strokes/breathing.
Scuba diving and other watersports are a whole different thing. Try to take some instruction in scuba diving first. Years ago a friend taught me in a swimming pool and I practiced there before I ever went into the ocean. And even then, it was a very different experience and I was glad I had experienced divers with me as the visibility underwater in the ocean was much different than the pool.
Have fun on your holiday!
