  • Help me buy an elliptical machine ASAP

My wife’s knees are not doing great and she thinks that it is from the treadmill. So she is considering buying an elliptical machine for our home.

However, I have never used any of these. Which is the best?

I remember seeing some infomercial for the Tony Little Gazelle Trainer. Is that a joke or is it good?

Basically I am looking for feedback so I can buy an inexpensive elliptical machine in the next few days/week.

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't do it. Put your money into a good, real elliptical machine.

Now I don't know what would be a good one, but I wouldn't buy a gazelle. Just my 2 cents.

Before you get her that machine ask her to test one. Every body, my doc included, told me that elictical no impact would be better for my knee. Well everybody in the gym heard me holler when on the down stroke of the pedal my knee decided it hurt worse then walking on the treadmill did, a lot worse. What piece of equipment if any will help her knee will depend on where the actual injured area is. I can walk on the treadmill every day and even with the incline all the way up, but shift to a jogging stride even at a slower speed and my knees are begging for mercy.

Nordic Track is great for a full upper/lower body workout w/no knee impact

Yeah the ellipitical puts a lot more strees on the knees, especially with the resistance turned up as in some ways it simulates a climbing motion
I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once

i'd definately recommend the eclipse 1100 hr elliptical, i bumped a review of it i wrote a few weeks ago so check it out. that said i suggest you go to a store and try a few out so you can make sure that you like the motion since they are all a little different. also i wouldn't recommend the gazzel since it seems to mostly work your glutes rather then your quads.
