I doubt it very much, I'm 99% sure that the weight you would lose whilst sitting in it would just be water anyway. Due to being dehydrated etc.

(I sat in one yesterday btw, very relaxing).

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

I agree with Richt. It would be water weight that you just sweated out. As soon as you drink a glass of water it would be right back. If it were that easy we'd all have saunas and be thin.

I use the steam room nearly every day. It does not do any thing for weight loss, but it does make me feel much better after a work out.

Regular sauna doesn't do it, but thay say infra-red one does. They claim you lose 600kcal just by sitting there for 20 minutes. I can only tell it's EXTREMELY dehydrating - I was there once, took 1.5 litres water, drank it all in 20 minutes and still felt dehydrated later. I was sweating like I never have before in my life...
All I can say I like "regular" sauna quite a bit better!

You will lose weight, water weight. Many professional fighters that have to make a weight cut will sit in there for hours at a time, i've seen cases where they dropped 20+ pounds in 1 day doing this. Very dangerous, and shouldn't be attempted by anyone that isn't being supervised by a trainer. The re-hydration process is extremely important, and its fairly useless to anyone that isn't just losing weight to make a requirement as the weight will return within the next few days. Excellent to relax the muscles and body after a workout though, just don't expect to shed pounds faster. Although you will notice a slight difference, it will be water weight.
