  • Help w/Water Issue

    Hey guys-

    I have been trying to be a good girl and get my water in, but I am having a hard time getting it down. I am really not used to drinking water, so the more I drink in a day (unless I am working my butt off and craving it) the more I feel like im ganna hurl!

    It is like all the water sits in my throat. Any suggestions? I have tried the flavour waters as well, and I do not like those at all. I have been sticking to Crystal Lite it is one of my favs.

    I do have some good news though, saved a bunch of money on my auto insurance...j/k..lol! I love those commercials, but really, I did start walking a mile during the work week and man am I sore, but its a good sore. I wanted to know where I can find those Elliptical Machine's and how much are they? I have seen that so many people on here love theirs.

    It's hard at first to drink the water. I understand I was there with you. Keep at it and soon you will feel parched without all of your water, I promise. Avoid the crystal Light because you can only have 3 servings of artificial sweeteners a day and your crystal llight counts. Also those sweetenters can stall you.

      Hi,
      Have you tried adding lemon to your water? Sorry, but Crystal Light isn't allowed on Atkins because it is sweetened with aspartame.

        What is the temperature of the water you drink?

        Weird question huh? Well, if you normally drink it cold, try and drink it at room temp and vice versa.

        As for me, I work out as soon as i wake up, so before i even eat breakfast, i will have already downed 32 oz.

          Good idea about the lemon. Some people also suggest adding a few slices of cucumber. Cleo adds a few drops of oil of oregano to her water.

          By the way, I believe that only the Crystal Light that's in powder form is sweetened with aspartame. The liquid kind is sweetened with Slpenda. But double check because it's been awhile since I bought any and I could be wrong. Still, if you're in induction you're suppose to limit the amount of Splenda to 3 servings per day.

            You are right! I went on their web site and checked it out. Crystal Light bottles contain sucralose sweetener (also known as SPLENDA) instead of Aspartame.

              I have tried the lemon thing, too tart for my taste. I am in OWL now..Yeah! Made it thru induction. I am drinking more water than I ever have in my life, so I guess that is better than nothing.

              In the morning, I use sweet-n-low with my coffee. Then I drink water before, during, and after my workout. Then try to stick to diet soda, tea, or crystal lite through out the day along with water here and there.

              I have lost 12.5 lbs. so I guess its not affecting me that bad. If it starts to stall me, then I will cut back on the artificial sweeteners and chug more water....thanks for the advise!!

                Do you have trouble swallowing any other liquids? there is some stuff called thickit you can buy to thicken your liquids and see if that helps you swallow it better. Have you discussed this with your doctor? We just had a member find out from her doc she has swelling in her glands in her throat because of her medical condition which was making swallowing difficult for her.

                drink when you first wake up so you start out hydrated you can suck on ice to help you get the water in too. you'd be surprized how much water you can get down as sucked Ice. Cna you drink it hot as in tea or broth?

                  Hey there,

                  Do you have trouble swallowing any other liquids? Not really....just the water..I might be thinking about the wter thing too much right before I am about to drink it and just the thought of it makes me wanna hurl. I believe this water issue is basically a habit I am going to have to form.

                  They say it takes doing something 21 times to make it a habit, maybe that will hold true for the water. I like hot tea, just never take the time to make me any. I might make me some though. That is a great idea..thanks! Might try the thickit also...where can I buy that at?

                    you should be able to find it OTC in the drug store. not sure what is made of liquid swallowing is pure gravity as other foods can use the contracting muscles in your thraot in sequence to get it down.

                    if it is just a habit then you need to break it and get that water down read the FAQ topic on why you need water to lose weight and you will be chugging it. Happy low carbing.
