  • Hey there need info

Hey there have been reading your posts in here and am hoping to do this as well--have been reading Cleochatra's posts especially. I have hypothyroidism and am on glucophage to regulate my insulin production. I also have gluten allergies, so theoretically this should be the best diet for my needs. My endo wants my weight down 60-70 pounds--current weight is 233 --and I'm 5'6" I'm fairly muscular still due to playing sports and staying relatively active--but a round of fertility meds and depression/divorce has resulted in eating for medicinal purposes--now I need help figuring out how to do this for health purposes

Hi cascas! It is so nice to meet you! I agree, especially with gluten allergies this will be an excellent way of eating for you! It is good to know you are active and muscular, as exercise is pretty important, regardless of the way of eating! I know I feel so much better when I'm eating this way, and I'm definitely in control--which is pretty amazing.

I'm sorry you've been through so much, but you have a family in us, now! so lean on us, laugh with us, and let us cheer you on while you get so thin we'll have to put rocks in your pockets to keep you from blowing away on a breezy morning!

Thanks, but still confused about this whole induction and boot camp thing--did research three years ago--about hypothyroidism, eating and weight loss for my Mom--she has nodular goiter and is on meds as well--so was my grandmother and my aunt--the insulin thing comes from father's side and I'm now up to 2500mg of glucophage a day(5 pills) started on two pills/day--so this worries me A LOT--need to lose weight/help control insulin to stave off type II for as long as possible--mom tried eating mainly protein and vegetables(similar to Atkins) and lost 60 pounds in 10 weeks--so I have hope--but have to figure out how to do this as effectively as possible--I'd like to be 60 down by my birthday--Jan. 31--or as much off as possible

Hang on. I want to move this thread to the main forum. You'll get more help there regarding these questions.

As for the weight loss, losing 60 pounds in 60 days would be pretty improbable, technically speaking. Do you have a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? If not, go to amazon.com and get one used for as little as a penny! It's worth the money. Or find it at the library if they have a copy.

I'll get you the induction list so you have an idea what you need to eat for the next 2 weeks.

Bootcamp applications are currently closed as of today, but we can get you started with the list and the book.

Print this out. It's not meant to replace the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, but it will get you started. I'll see about getting your thread moved.

Thanks--this helps and I is mostly stuff I like to eat anyway--the salad dressing and no fruit thing is going to be an adjustment--but otherwise looks doable

              Re: Hey there need info

              welcome to ADBB and Atkins.

Make sure your doc is monitoring your blood sugars and your glucophage dose as you do Atkins so you don't go into insulin shock. Check out our diebetic forum as they have had great success controlling their blood sugars and lowering if not geting off all meds.

also your thyroid levels will need to be rechecked in a few months as the human body response to amy weight loss is lower the thyriod production. Also watch your new to you exposure to groitogens as many of our veggies are. there is a list in the thyroid forum and you don't have to avoid them just keep your eating of them consistant so you don't have peels and valleys of thyroid levels.

Get a copy of DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 edition and start reading. pay close attendtion to chapter 11 and in 15 days you will be posting a yippeeeee I lost post here.
