stretch marks

I gained around 40 pounds in 1 year after i graduated college, now im working on getting it back off . Was wondering if my nice new stretch marks go away after losing the weight? Ive noticed some of the redness is going away... I gained all my weight in my stomach area, like most males (beer ) hehe

Hi Satyr,

Being a woman who's had 4 babies and was 'blessed' with a road map on my stomach...I can, with most certainty, tell you that they will never go away completely. Sorry to break the news to you....BUT, on the lighter side, they will diminish in intensity, change color (no more red as you have experienced) and if they are small enough, you won't even be able to see them.

For men though, the stretch marks are, for the most part, significantly smaller so you do have a better chance of having them fade and 'blend in' with the rest of you as time goes by and you lose your weight.

PS - body builders get them too.

If it makes you feel any better, my 24 year old 5'4" lean mean 140 pounds of muscle dear friend who has never in his life been overweight has stretch marks.

Light ones, but yes, stretch marks. From puberty and growth spurts, he thinks.

You could always try painting your chest with red vain-like paints....that way no-one's going to look at your stretch marks....

Or if your an old fashioned kind of guy like me and anyone asks you what they are just say you got stabbed in a knife fight!

It is important that you really clean the area of the stretch marks when you shower. Maybe with a good loofa. What this does is remove dead skin cells so it can be replaced with fresher ones quicker. Use coco butter and vitamin e on them after you dry up.

vitamin e oil seems to help soften them- but they never go away- unless you go for a skin graft

Dry brushing, showering with cool rinse, dry and use strivectin. It works. I am living testimony after having these stretch marks for almost 18 years, they are fading drastically with this stuff. It is very expensive though. It is from $135 a tube at Beauty stores to $69 for 2 at costco.

Dawn--did you wait until you had lost all your weight to begin treating your stretch marks? I wonder if it's something I should start now or consider waiting on until I'm smaller.
