      Re: Going for a Colonoscopy

I had one 5 years ago and I'm due again soon. It was very easy and painless. I slept right through it, no problems at all. More people should get it done if they can afford it. If my mother's incompetent doctor would have ordered one for her 2 years ago when she first got sick she wouldn't be in the shape she's in now. It can save lives. Just do it!

Are you supposed to have this done on a regular basis? I've never had one and my doctor never told me about it.

Katie Curic had one done on national TV from the prep to the doing to show how easy and painless they were after her hubby died of colon cancer.

You will be fine Lynne and remember the weight loss from the clean out is temp and the post weight gain is just the intestines re filling.

              Re: Going for a Colonoscopy

If colon cancer runs in your family you should have it done even sooner than 50- check with your doctor! My folks have them on a regular basis, my dad's brother didn't and he now has terminal colon cancer, very sad because if it was caught early he might have been able to have been cured!

Lynne--mom and dad both said its a piece of cake! I have endoscopy's done (the other end) every 6 months with biopsy's -- it doesn't even phase me anymore. They'll knock you out and when you wake up it'll be over!

Not fun, and they found something to biopsy, so now I have that to think about all weekend. BUT, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be except they shoot a lot of air into you and you walk around afterward tooting like a train

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about that one itty bitty small part.

I hope everything turns out good for you!
